Café Front of House Assistant, Weekdays

Part time position 

 Working Weekdays

 

Reports to: Coffee Shop Restaurant Manager

 

Role Summary:

Involves customer-facing duties like greeting guests, taking orders, and handling payments, while also preparing and serving food and drinks and maintaining a clean and organised environment. This position acts as the "face" of the coffee shop, requiring strong customer service skills to ensure a positive guest experience, from handling inquiries to resolving complaints. The role requires collaboration with the team and adherence to all health, safety, and operational standards.

 

Prior experience and knowledge of working in a team in a fast paced hospitality environment essential.

Customer service and sales

  • Greet customers warmly and professionally

  • Answer questions about the menu and make recommendations

  • Take accurate food and drink orders for dine-in and takeaway customers

  • Handle cash and card transactions accurately using a point-of-sale (POS) system

  • Address any customer concerns or complaints promptly 

Food and beverage preparation

  • Prepare coffee, other drinks, and food according to company standards

  • Provide excellent customer service to ensure satisfaction

  • Restock and run the beverage station when needed

Operations and maintenance:

  • Clear and reset tables after customers leave

  • Maintain a clean and hygienic environment, including the dining area, service stations, and customer toilets

  • Perform opening and closing duties, such as preparing the till or locking up

  • Assist with inventory, stocking, and waste disposal

Team collaboration and safety:

  • Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to ensure smooth service.

  • Follow all health and safety regulations

Requirements & Skills:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Prior experience in a customer service role, such as a barista or server

  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment

  • Knowledge of food and beverage service standards

  • Familiarity with EPOS systems

  • Flexibility to work a schedule that includes weekends, bank holidays and occasional evenings for events

Working as part of a team in a family-run farm based business which has been selling home and locally produced food for over 60 years.
